NFL Week 2 Under the Radar Pickups

Hey guys, I know most leagues have already had their waiver period over, so this will be guys who ended up making it past the waiver period without being picked up.

Mitchell Trubitsky- Trubitsky was on the opposing side of one of Aaron Rodgers famous comebacks. If you look at his stats they weren’t that impressive. He was 23 for 35 for 171 yards and ran for 32 yards and a touchdown. Which accounted for about 14 fantasy points. If you look at the Bears schedule this season the toughest defense they face is the Vikings twice, one time is week 17, I think right now is a great time to buy low on Mitch. Mitch had a 66% completion percentage in week 1, and it would have been even higher if his receivers didn’t have some key drops.

If the likes of Austin Ekeler, Phillip Lindsay, Sony Michel, Derrick Henry, and Aaron Jones are somehow still on your Waiver wire go ahead and scoop them up. However, the running back I will be writing up is Javorius “Buck” Allen.

Javorius “Buck” Allen- Allen has put up 11 and 12 point PPR performances over his first 2 games and is only owned in 8% of Yahoo season long leagues. I would like his rushing yards to be a little higher, only 25, but he has 2 touchdowns, 10 catches and 51 receiving yards. He also got every snap on third down and in the red zone in last night’s game against the Bengals. Allen has some massive upside if this trend continues. He was also wide open for a touchdown last night, but Flacco decided to throw it to Chris Moore for the touchdown instead. So Allen is using his speed to make space in the receiving game and should have a breakout game coming up.

If the likes of Alshon Jeffery, Chris Hogan (yes someone actually cut him), Quincy Enunwa, Tyler Lockett, and Kenny Stills made it past waivers go ahead and pick them up. The wide receiver I will be writing up is Geronimo Allison.

Geronimo Allison- On Sunday night Allison had 5 catches on 8 targets for 69 yards and a touchdown. With Jordy Nelson in Oakland Allison has cemented his spot in this Packers offense. Allison is owned in just 31% of Yahoo leagues, but his ownership has gone up 20% in the last two days because of his performance week 1. Allison already had a rapport with Rodgers and his performance should have just strengthened it. If you are in need of a WR or have a lot of bench spots I suggest picking him up in your leagues.

I will not be drinking the Jared Cook Kool-aid anytime soon. He needs to prove to me he can do more than just have one good week. Tyler Eifert has been a disappointment so far, but if he’s available in your leagues I still like his upside for the rest of the season. Greg Olsen says he will be back this season so if you have multiple IR spots he might be worth a pickup as well.

Antonio Gates- I’m really not sure how he is only 9% owned in Yahoo leagues, but he is. He only played on 33 of 82 offensive snaps last week, but still managed 2 catches on 3 targets for 16 yards. Gates is obviously still getting back into football shape, but his snap count should continue to go up. Gates when he’s healthy has 90+ catches and anywhere from 5-12 touchdowns. He has a great rapport with Rivers, and should start showing that he can still play football soon.

The kickers I like who are still available in a good amount of leagues are Daniel CarlsonAdam VinatieriCody Parkey, Mason Crosby, and Ka’imi Fairbairn. Pick them up while you still can if you need a kicker.

The only defense I would consider picking up for right now is Chicago, unless someone over reacted and cut the Saints or Eagles defense.
