Now let’s get to breaking down the pitching on this slate. When you open up your FanDuel app you will see Gerrit Cole (10.6K), Corey Kluber (10.4K), Rick Porcello (9.3K), and Zack Wheeler (9.1K) as the 4 highest priced pitchers. On DK you will see the same 4 pitchers, but their prices are much more spread out, Cole (13.3K), Kluber (11K), Porcello (10.1K), and Wheeler at (9.3K).

From everything I have read today Wheeler is the chalk for tonight’s slate, I definitely see why. However, I think Wheeler is priced out for his upside.

High Tier:

On DK if I had to choose one of the 4 high price pitchers I would choose Cole, but I personally feel Fiers in the mid range is a better play than any of the 4. On FD I would I could see myself going Alex Wood at $8,700.

Alex Wood- Wood has been sensational in July and August allowing 11 earned runs in 40 and 2/3 innings, while striking out 32 hitters. The Cardinals have the bats that can hurt lefties, but the last 3 left handed starters they’ve faced have combined to allow 20 hits and 4 earned runs will striking out 11 batters over 14 and 1/3 innings with 10 hits, 2 earned runs, and only 1 strikeout coming from one start by Tommy Milone. I could see Wood going 6 innings allowing 6 hits 1-2 earned runs and 6 K’s tonight.

Mid Tier:

The 4 mid tier pitchers I would target on FD are Mike Fiers (7.7K), Derek Holland (7.3K), Marco Estrada (7.1K), and Kevin Guasman (7.5K). My favorites out of these 4 are Holland or Fiers. On DK the mid tier pitchers I would look at are Mike Fiers (8.2K), Derek Holland (8.1K), and Austin Gomber at (7.2K).

Mike Fiers-

I am usually very anti Fiers, but in July and August Fiers has allowed 11 earned runs over 45 and 2/3 innings of work while striking out 39 batters. The Rangers are very K happy and Oakland is a pitchers park. In his 2 starts in Oakland since he got traded to the A’s Fiers has pitched 11 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 13 batters. Mike Fiers is my guy tonight in gpp’s especially at his price on both sites.

Low tier:

The lower tier is where you can find some #criminalownership plays. However, on dk we won’t be getting any of that. I strongly recommend going with the chalk Gonsalves for $5,400. Now FD is a totally different story. On FD I like the upside of Andrew Cashner and Jorge Lopez, but I think I like Jorge Lopez more.

Jorge Lopez-

Lopez is min price at $5,500 on FD, and most will look at his last start and not want to go with him, but if you look deeper into his start he allowed 6 earned runs (4 of which came on a Granderson homerun), and struck out 3 over 4 and 2/3 innings. Lopez threw 88 pitches in this start and I could see the Royals letting him throw in the range of 95-98 pitches tonight. I see him limiting damage vs the Rays tonight. Lopez is my favorite option on FD if you want all the bats.
