MLB FanCave Full Look (Fanduel): 7/2/18
Welcome to today’s MLB FanCave Full Look, covering the main 9-game slate on Fanduel starting at 6:05 CST. This full look will target the slate as a whole. I will highlight my top pitchers, one for cash games and one for GPP, followed by my top stacks, and my favorite value bats that I will be building my lineups around.
Corey Kluber – Cleveland Indians – $11,200
Kluber comes in as today’s cash pitcher for FanCave. He has struggled in two of his last three starts, but I look for the vet to bounce back here today facing the ice cold Kansas City Royals. Mike Moustakas has hit Kluber very well over the years, but he is the only threat in the KC lineup. Look for Kluber to get back on track and pitch deep into the game, rack up double-digit K’s once again, and approach 60 FDP.
There will be enough value as lineups unfold, and I will now point out my favorite value plays to pair with high priced pitching at the end of this article, instead of doing one-offs. On the GPP end today, there are a couple pitchers you may want exposure to if you are looking to roster the top bats today.
Nathan Eovaldi – Tampa Bay Rays – $6,300
Kind of a toss-up today between Eovaldi and Johnny Lasagna for me today, so I’ll take the small discount, and hope the Rays can actually defeat the Marlins and get Eovaldi a win. The Marlins are known as a team to not strikeout a ton. As the season progresses however, they slowly are striking out more and more, and are down to 20th in the league. So the Marlins actually do strikeout, Eovaldi is dirt cheap in a pitcher’s stadium, and is coming off a gem. In his last start which was at home against Washington, Eovaldi picked up a win and a quality start, striking out nine, and amassing 55 FDP. Those types of numbers will do just fine today.
Cincinnati Reds – (1B – Joey Votto $4,300, 2B – Scooter Gennett $3,700, 3B – Eugenio Suarez $3,900, SS – Jose Peraza $3,200)
The Reds are my favorite to stack today, as this comes in as pretty affordable. I know we see Cy Shields every now and then, but I don’t expect him to show up today. Votto is actually underpriced in my opinion, and is my top pick to leave the yard today.
Suarez continues to have a magnificent season, hitting .306 with 16 HR’s and he should not be left out of your stacks because he is right-handed. If things go as I expect, Shields won’t last too long, and we will likely see a left handed reliever from the Sox at some point. If Suarez gets that opportunity I look for him to go deep as well.
Peraza has been hitting too well to be left out of the stack. He has hit three homers in his last five games, and that has brought his total on the season to just five! I wish he was a little cheaper, but dude is on fire.
New York Yankees – (OF – Aaron Judge $5,000, OF – Aaron Hicks $3,700, 1B – Greg Bird $2,900, 3B – Miguel Andujar $3,300)
The Yankees will face the Braves in interleague play, and are coming off of a very decisive 11-1 thrashing of the Red Sox last night. These bats are heating up, and enter Anibal Sanches who is finally looking like Anibal Sanchez after a couple of good starts early June. His last two starts though have been pretty terrible, as he has allowed six earned in just 9.2 innings. With Coors back in the fold, the Yankees could actually be a semi-sneaky stack.
Top Value Plays:
OF – Avisail Garcia – Chicago White Sox – $2,700
I am just going to keep playing him until his price gets bumped up at least over $3K. He has been back since June 22nd, and has at least one-hit in every start back, and is currently riding an 11-game hitting streak. The White Sox get the park factor boost being in Cincy at Great American Small Park, but face Luis Castillo, who could be dangerous he if finds his zone, expecially against this team. Garcia had two doubles and a triple to finish out the series in Texas yesterday, for an impressive 37.1 FDP. Play him now while his salary is so low. There is a price boost coming.
OF – Lonnie Chisenhall – Cleveland Indians – $2,500
Another outfielder here, as there isn’t looking to be too much I like down here in the mid 2K’s today. When you roster Chis, you are banking on him driving in runs as he hits down around the six spot in the lineup. This team just exploded for 15 runs yesterday, and could easily do that again against KC starter Jakob Junis. Chisenhall had two doubles in that rout, and 25.2 FDP. This team scores runs in bunches. I love playing their cheap value plays when they are hot.
SS – Jorge Polanco – Minnesota Twins – $2,000
Polanco is slated to return to the Twins lineup tonight in Milwaukee, after serving out his 80 game PED suspension. It will be interesting to see if he can put up the kind of numbers he was prior to getting handed the suspension. He has a good swing both ways as a switch hitter, and will face Brewers lefty Brent Suter in his return tonight. At minimum price on FanDuel, I am locking him in my cash lineups to help pay up for Kluber.
C/1B – Brad Miller – Milwaukee Brewers – $2,700
Miller has been just OK since his return, and it will be nice when we finally get a position change from FanDuel. It’s tough looking at him, Eric Thames and Jesus Aguilar all at 1B when you are trying to stack this team. Anyways, we got a leadoff hitter here under $3K which is a good thing to target for cash games. The match-up isn’t great, as Kyle Gibson has been decent this year, but I expect the reeling Twins to get smoked again, and I am hoping Miller gets all of that started.
