Good afternoon fellow FanCavers! Today we get a nice little 4 game slate with a ton of viable value options! I think with all of the value options on the slate today, it will make for a lower owned night which could work in our favor. I am here to give you the tools you need to succeed tonight so let’s ride! I will be conducting today’s article in a game by game fashion due to all of the value plays. As always, I will use Fanduel pricing as a reference.
Injury news to watch out for:
CON: Alyssa Thomas (doubtful)
SEA: Alysha Clark (questionable)
CON @ WAS / O/U 171.5 / WAS -3
Forwards: The place to start with Washington is and always will be Elena Delle Donne ($8,600). Fanduel has priced her up towards the Griner level, but she is still viable in all formats. Connecticut is pretty middle of the road on the defensive end but has been a lot less efficient without Alyssa Thomas on the court. Picking between the top studs tonight will be a bit of a crap shoot tonight, but I like the chances for this game to stay close and it also has the highest O/U on the slate by 7 full points. EDD makes sense as the top stud option in cash games. Latoya Sanders ($5,100) price is much higher than I’d like to see it, but she certainly flashed some upside last game. Her inconsistency will keep her far off my radars in cash game but she is a fine GPP option. All other forwards on this team are far too inconsistent to recommend in any format.
Guards: Kristi Toliver ($5,200) has found her way into my lineups quite a bit this season and tonight should be no different. She has seen 33+ minutes in 4 of her last 5 games and 27 minutes in the other. With minutes like this, and dropping 40.4 on Connecticut last outing she is a guard that is viable in all formats. With Tayler Hill ($3,100) coming back from an ACL injury and the uncertainty in minutes for the other Washington guards, I will reserve them all for tournaments. My favorite is Natasha Cloud ($4,500) who seems to fall into 24+ minutes a night.
Forwards: It’s looking like Alyssa Thomas is not going to play in tonight’s contest so understand that I will be writing this article under that assumption. With that being said, Chiney Ogwumike ($6,800) has stepped up in her respective role. I think this price is just far too cheap for a player with her ceiling. Last time against Washington she stepped into a 40-minute role and eclipsed 42.1 FDP. If Alyssa Thomas does indeed miss, Ogwumike will make an elite play in all formats. Jonquel Jones ($5,800) has been a real head scratcher this season after being extremely elite last season. I will not roster her in this current form. Brionna Jones ($3,400) has played 23-31 minutes in her last 3 games and has stepped up without AT. She did have a 6.6 dud, but I am willing to write that off due to her 28.5 and 27.8 FDP performances in the other 2. She should be popular and makes for one of the top value options of the slate. Morgan Tuck ($3,400) is an awesome pivot to Brionna Jones in tournaments as we truly don’t know what will happen with this rotation. Tuck played 28 minutes and scored 28.5 FDP just 2 games ago. I doubt I go here, but if you are playing multiple lineups, I can see the appeal.
Guards: Jasmine Thomas ($6,100) and Courtney Williams ($5,900) have both had their struggles the last couple of games and are lacking consistency right now. Until their prices come down to a good biting point or they get their consistency back I will not be rostering either of these guards. The 2 guards that have been crushing value are still very cheap in Alex Bentley ($4,100) and Rachel Banham ($3,400). Bentley should garner some ownership and I have to be honest this play REALLY scares me. She is extremely scoring dependent and has garnered a massive 8 steals in her last 2 games. People will not look into this and just see the fact that she’s put up 29.2 FDP in each of her last 2 games. I prefer other options at this price point, but won’t totally fault you if you want to play her. Banham’s minutes have been trending upwards, but are far from secure. She has put up at least 14.4 FDP in her last 3 games and at her price, you could do a lot worse. Banham is a viable cash punt.
PHO @ NYL / O/U 158.5 / PHO -4
Forwards: Brittney Griner ($8,700) tops in as the most expensive option on the slate. She has averaged 40.9 FDP per game this season and is always in play as a top option. I prefer some of the other top forwards, but I will never fault you for rostering Brittney Griner. Griner eats so much usage that the only other forward to ever look for from Phoenix is Sancho Lyttle ($4,500). She always brings block/steal upside and can rack up a ton of rebounds so she makes for a decent tournament play.
Guards: I am in LOVE with Diana Taurasi ($7,700). She is the WNBA goat and the all-time leading points, scorer. She is in play whenever she steps on the court and is my top guard pay up of the slate. Dewanna Bonner ($6,600) has not flashed much upside as of late and I am off her at this price. Briann January ($4,700) is more expensive than I’d ever want to see her and is off my radars as well.
Forwards: Tina Charles ($7,900) always has upside, but has been very inconsistent for a player of her price. I will be on the fade train tonight but can see a route to using her as a low owned, tournament stud. I am reading that Marissa Coleman will miss tonight’s game. If that’s the case than Amanda Zahui b ($3,600) would turn into the best value play of the slate. Both Kiah Stokes ($3,300) and Kia Vaughn ($3,600) would be open to some more minutes as well. Both have not been effective but are worth throwing darts at.
Guards: The guard situation in New York continues to remain crowded. Brittany Boyd ($3,900) has played limited minutes (16-22) in her last 4 games but has put up 25+ in her last 3. I would like to think she gets closer to the 22 minutes mark in her run tonight but it’s not safe. Due to her price, and the fact that she should be very chalky, she is cash viable. All of the other guards from NY just aren’t consistent and I’d rather throw my darts elsewhere.
