WNBA Positional Guide / June 13, 2018

Hey guys! The article was a great success last night and I saw that people were able to cash utilizing it! I’m happy for you. I missed due to fading A’ja (duh). Tonight is just a 2 game slate so instead of going team by team I’ll break down a few of my favorite studs / values at each position. Let’s rock baby!

Jasmine Thomas ($5,700) / Courtney Williams ($5,600) – The 2 guards for Connecticut seem to be in play every single day. I really do think they have what it takes to seriously contend for a title this year. Thomas put up 34.3 against Washington last time out, but seems to lack the consistency that Courtney Williams brings to the court. Both of their respective usages are right around 22%. They’re really similar in terms of play as they both can score the basketball and rack up a few assists. Williams has done a better job crashing the boards lately getting 22 rebounds in her last 4 games. She is coming off a heated matchup vs Minnesota where she was able to drop 22 real points. I lean Williams here and will be using her in all formats, but you really can’t go wrong with either guard.

Washington Backcourt: The Washington backcourt continues to be crowded, but presents us with a lot of value. In a game that is favored to Connecticut by 9.5, it’s important for us to look at what guards can get playing time from this. Kristi Toliver ($4,400) and Ariel Atkins ($4,000) stick out as my favorites here. Toliver hasn’t seen less than 24 minutes all season and typically hovers right around 30. At $4,400 we have to love that kind of consistency for cash games. Atkins is another guard that averages just shy of 22 minutes per game, but could see some extended run in a game that could blow out. Natasha Cloud ($4,300) is not a consistent fantasy producer so it takes her off my cash game list, but she sees minutes and has flashed upside into the mid 30s. For $4,300 you could do a lot worse tonight. Consider her a viable tournament option.

Kayla McBride ($5,300): Kayla McBride has been consistent. She is a lock for 20 FDP and I will be targetting her as a core play on this slate.

Other options:

Epiphanny Prince ($5,900), Alex Bentley ($3,800), Tamera Young ($3,900)

Studs: I’ll break down the top 4 priced players for this position as we have 4 that are priced $7,000 or above. My favorite, and certainly the most popular will be A’ja Wilson ($7,000). Lock her in and move on. Look at her box scores. I should not have to explain this play. Elena Delle Donne ($8,000) and Tina Charles ($8,600) tie for 2A and 2B at this position. I love Charles today and think her price may bring her ownership down just a smidge. I will not be afraid to target her if I can afford her. EDD has come back from injury recently and will likely be the lowest owned stud of the night. She had to debut against MIN which is not the easiest match up at all. She has now had 6 days off and I expect her to get more back into the swing of things tonight. She carries a massive usage rate and should be targeted in all formats tonight. Alyssa Thomas ($7,600) is always a threat to smash and should be considered viable in all formats. The problem for me here is I’m more excited about the other studs in this spot.

Chiney Ogwumike ($6,800) – Ogwumike accounted for 32 FDP in just 21 minutes last game against Washington. Her playing time has increased and we can realistically project her for 27-31 minutes tonight. She WILL be priced like an 8k stud here very soon so jump on board while you can. I am ALL IN on her this evening.

Other options:

JiSu Park ($3,300), Kiah Stokes ($3,300), LaToya Sanders ($3,500), Jonquel Jones ($5,800)
