FanCave Pitching Breakdown (EARLY + MAIN) – 5/26/18

Hey guys sorry about no articles lately been a busy start to my summer, but I’m back today. With an 8 game early slate and 6 game main slate I am going to have my top 3 pitchers from each slate.

Early:

High Tier:

Aaron Nola- Nola is solidifying himself as an ace and as one of the best pitchers in the game. He is 5-0 with a 2.06 ERA, .236 baa, a 9K/9 rate at home this season. Nola has had a quality start very start this year other than his last one in St Louis. He is the chalk for early slate, but I like his spot the best.

Mid Tier-

Chase Anderson- Anderson has struggled this year at home, but for his career he has been a better pitcher at home. He is going up against a Mets team that recently has been struggling to score runs since their 12 run outbreak on May 16th. For his career vs the current Mets roster in 91 plate appearances he has a 23.1 K% , and they are hitting .244 against him. Anderson is in a good “get right” spot here and I like him for gpp.

Low Tier-

Anthony Banda- The rays have been using relievers to start games for them lately, and it looks like it’s been working. Yarbrough went off last night after coming in for Sergio Romo. Ryan Stanek is starting today for the Rays but it’s probably gonna be Anthony Banda who plays the Yarbrough role today. People will see Banda’s game logs and be scared off the play, but I’m going right back to him.

Fellow lefty Ryan Yarbrough put up 30+ last night against the Orioles who have not been the same team away from home. Anthony Banda has the talent to be a 3rd or 4th starter on this team he just needs the chance to prove it. The Rays have only allowed him to throw at most 57 pitches this season. I could see them raising that pitch count today. I see Banda’s talent, and i hope everyone else does too.

Main:

High Tier:

Jake Odorizzi- Odorizzi is finally back to the flashes of dominance he showed in Tampa and is my favorite of the higher price guys. Carrasco struggles at home and Wood has upside, but Roberts doesn’t like pitching Wood a lot of innings especially coming off injuries. In 99 career plate appearances vs the Mariners Odorizzi holds a 22.2% K% and a .239 baa. Odo has 28 strikeouts this month and has only allowed 5 earned runs in 22 innings. I like him cash tonight and he should be low owned in Cash.

Low/Mid Tier:

Tyler Anderson- I hope a lot of people will see this spot and hop off because it’s in Coors and the Reds have guys like Suarez, Duvall, and Peraza who can hurt lefties. In a small sample of 17 plate appearances he has an insane 41.2% K% and a .188 baa vs the Reds. Anderson has put up decent numbers in his career at home and i like his spot tonight. Anderson could be the low owned pitcher who breaks the slate tonight.

Lance McCullers could be the guy tonight but I never like attacking Cleveland, but if you wanted Safety he’s the guy tonight in cash. In 58 plate appearances vs the current Indians he has a 24.1% K% and a .231 baa. I’m guessing he will be the chalk tonight, but I like Odorizzi’s spot better.
