Hey guys whats up? I know I haven’t posted an article lately, finals coming up so school has been getting the better of me, but I’m back today with a pitching breakdown. Today’s slate is a unique one. We have 5 pitchers over 10K on FD, and 5 pitchers over 10K on DK. However, on FD we have no pitcher over 11,500, while on DK we have 4 pitchers over 11,500 and the highest price being 12,700. So let’s get into the slate.
Max Scherzer ($11,500 FD/$12,700 DK)- Mad Max is the highest priced pitcher on this slate and for good reason. Scherzer holds a 5-1 record, 1.62 ERA, .165 baa, and 13.15 K/9 rate this season, and has a career 4-2 record, 2.74 ERA, .197 baa, and 12.1 K/9 against thePirates. However, against this current Pirates roster Max has even more dominant numbers holding them to a .182 baa, 32.9% K%, and 2.9 walk%. There is enough value on both sites to fit Mad Max into your lineups and he is my guy for cash tonight.
Justin Verlander ($10,800 FD/$11,700 DK)- JV is the second high priced pitcher that I am playing tonight. JV holds a 4-0 record, 1.36 ERA, .153 baa, and 10.89 K/9 this season. Over his career against the Yankees Verlander holds a 6-7 record, 3.87 ERA, .266 baa, and an 8.1 K/9 rate. However, in Houston he holds a 5-0 record, 2.76 ERA, .193 baa, and a 10.9 K/9 rate. The Yankees can light up any pitcher, so Verlander could be low owned tonight, but against this current roster he holds a .202 baa, and a 28.2% K%. Verlander is cash safe tonight, but I will be playing reserving him for GPP’s tonight.
Chase Anderson ($8,000 FD/$7,000 DK)- Anderson this year holds a 2-2 record, 2.86 ERA, .207 baa, and 5.97 K/9. Anderson’s K/9 is down from past years, but that might be because he was not 100% healthy. He holds a 2-1 record, 2.68 ERA, .226 baa, and a 7.1 K/9 rate for his career against the Reds. Against the current Reds roster he holds a .180 baa, 17.1% K%. The only scary number here is a 10.0 walk%, but I have a feeling a lot of those walks are Joey Votto. Anderson is a nice cheap play in GPP’s tonight if you want to pay up for some big bats.
Felix Hernandez ($5,900 FD/$6,600 DK)- King Felix is not a good pitcher anymore, but he has a good matchup tonight. In his career against the A’s he holds a 25-10 record, 2.61 ERA, .228 baa, and an 8.4 K/9. His numbers at home are by far better than on the road for his career, and even this year. This season at home King Felix has pitched 11.2 innings allowing 2 earned runs, 7 hits and striking out 11 batters. He even faced the A’s on April 15th going 6.1 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and 7 strikeouts. King Felix is my low owned, cheap gpp play tonight that will have in at least one line.
