Hey guys it’s a super small slate tonight so instead of my normal pitching article I am going game by game and breaking down some BvP, pitching, stacks, and some general notes. So let’s get started:
Bell- 7-14 .500
Dickerson- 4-6 .667
Rodriguez- 4-10 .400
Jameson Tallion vs Jake Arietta
Being a Phillies fan I hate to say this but I like Tallion tonight. He pitching like a guy with a second lease on life. The Phillies last 3 games they have struck out a total of 34 times. So I think Tallion is my guy.
I personally still don’t trust Arietta 100% and the Pirates know him well from his Cubs days. I will only have exposure on DK if I don’t have Tallion and need salary.
Bell/Dickerson mini stack
I’m not overly high on either side of this game from a hitting standpoint
Markakis- 6-22 .273
Suzuki- 2-5 .400
Conforto- 5-13 .385
Agon- 4-8 .500
Matt Harvey vs Matt Wisler
Matt Harvey is well he’s Matt Harvey. In his last 2 starts he has allowed 17 hits 8 runs and 3 homeruns over 15 innings. Lefties are hitting .269 and righties are hitting .306 off of him.
Matt Wisler has had 2 great starts in the minors so far this season but the starts to me based on the box score do not look very good because the teams he faced were not very good teams. Wisler owns a career .274 baa and is a flyball pitcher. The important thing from a DFS perspective is that he is pitching in a park built for lefties. Wisler has pitched 20 innings here in Atlanta and had allowed 29 hits 20 runs and 4 homeruns while opposing hitters are batting .333. I will have 0 shares.
Braves lefties- Albies/Tucker/Inciarte/Freeman
Mets lefties- Conforto/Asdrudal/Bruce
Bour- 4-8 .500
Maybin- 3-7 .429
Realmuto- 2-3 .667
Dilon Peters vs Chase Anderson
Chase Anderson last season was very good at home, this season has not started that way for him. However, his opposing baa was an average of .238 in those starts so that just seems like bad luck to me. Surprisingly he has shutdown lefties this season holding them to a .105 average while righties are hitting .275 off him. Anderson would be a great gpp pivot off Tallion and Greinke.
Dillon Peters is well a left handed pitcher who outside of Miami has struggled. This season vs Righties he has allowed 14 hits 11 runs and 3 homeruns and a .316 average. I could see Peters allowing another 2-3 homeruns tonight.
Marlins- Bour/Realmuto mini stack (not my favorite but could see working)
Brewers- Aguilar/Cain/Perez/Santana/Arcia (You can’t play 5 hitters, but all 5 are in play with the first three being my favorites)
Goldschmidt- 2-4 .500
Peralta- 2-4 .500
Pollock- 2-4 .500
Blanco- 5-15 .333
McCutchen- 4-9 .444
Posey- 11-39 .282
Ty Blach vs Zack Greinke
Ty Blach is a ground ball pitcher who is a lot better at home than away. Righties are hitting a .340 this season against Blach and are hitting more fly balls than lefties do. I will have 0 exposure.
Zack Greinke for most of his career is a very good pitcher at home. This season in his only start at home he went 5.2 innings and struck out 9 batters. Greinke has very dominant career numbers vs the Giants. Greinke will be the chalk play today at pitcher and I can see why.
Diamondbacks righties- Pollock/Goldschmidt/Marte/Owings
I don’t really like any Giants other than Posey.
There is not any notable BvP here with a big enough sample size for me to like but Kinsler is 2-9 against Rodriguez. Mitch Moreland has 1 homerun off of Tropeano but is batting .143 against him. Albert Pujols and Cole Calhoun both have a homerun off of E-Rod, but it is only a 2 at bat sample.
Eduardo Rodriguez is in an interesting spot tonight. He is a very good pitcher with a plus fastball, and in his second start he looked to be back to dominant form. However, the Angels have bats that could hurt lefties, and have hurt lefties in the past. I might have a share of E-Rod on DK, but the Angels bats worry me.
Nick Tropeano came off the DL and dominated a Royals team that is severely missing the likes of Cain and Hosmer this season. Tropeano only through 88 pitches though and will not have as easy of a matchup tonight. I will not being playing Tropeano tonight against an offense that has scored 19 runs in their last 2 games in Anaheim.
Angels Righties- Trout/Upton/Maldonado/Marte
Red Sox- Betts/Benintendi/JD/Moreland
JD Martinez completely crushes lefties so he might be lower owned vs a righty, but he has always been a guy who goes on homerun streaks and I could see his bat finally waking up after his homerun last night.
