NHL DFS Breakdown (3/5)

Hello everyone, Hope Monday isn’t treating you too bad! Tonight, we have a decent sized 5 game slate and some pretty good matchups. Lock is at 7:00 PM ET/6:00 PM CT.  I will list my plays of the day with a few details but if you want further details on the plays then you need to be in our slack chat! Here are the 5 matchups tonight and their start times (Eastern Time):

CGY@ PIT 7:00pm
TOR@ BUF 7:30pm
OTT@ DAL 8:30pm
ARI@ EDM 9:00pm
NYI@ VAN 10:00pm

Top Plays:

Tyler Seguin vs Ottawa Senators ($8200 FD)

Seguin is on a 5 game point streak and looking to make it 6 tonight on home ice against the Ottawa Senators. He has double digit FD points in all of his last 5 as well and is coming off a matchup against the Blues, where he recorded 2 assists and 24 FD points. This is my favorite center play tonight.

Connor McDavid vs Arizona Coyotes ($9200 FD)

McDavid has 20+ FD points in each of his last 4 games and 5 of his last 6. Raanta has been playing really well for the Coyotes lately but I expect him to have a rough game against McDavid and the Oilers tonight.

Evgeni Malkin vs Calgary Flames ($9100 FD)

I like Malkin yet again over Crosby but I honestly don’t think you could go wrong playing either of them. I’m expecting a pretty high scoring night from the Penguins as they face Gillies in net. Malkin was one of the hottest players in the month of February and so far has carried it into March.

Sidney Crosby vs Calgary Flames ($8800 FD/$

As I said above, I don’t think you can go wrong playing either/or tonight against the Flames. I like who Crosby skates with more rather than Malkin but I also think the Rust-Malkin connection will look pretty tonight. Regardless, Crosby is still a top play tonight against the Flames.

Bo Horvat vs New York Islanders ($5900 FD/$

Horvat is a really good sneaky play at center tonight. I really like watching him and Boeser work together and they are up against the leagues worst in GAA. The Islanders have been bad all year at giving up goals despite scoring a good amount themselves. I love this 2nd line tonight with Horvat-Boeser-Liepsic.

Good Plays:

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins vs Arizona Coyotes ($5500 FD)

If the Oilers bring their A Game tonight against the Coyotes, it should be a pretty simple win for them on home ice. I know the Yotes have been playing much better as of late but the high powered offense for the Oilers should outplay the Coyotes and I expect Talbot to outplay Raanta in net. Hopkins is on the first line at center again tonight while McDavid is on the 2nd line. Possible sneaky play.

Ryan O’Reilly vs Toronto Maple Leafs ($6200 FD)

O’Reilly will be low owned tonight as most people over look the Sabres nowadays because Eichel is out still and Kane was traded. I think this is going to be a much closer matchup than most are expecting. O’Reilly has stepped up nicely in Eichels absence and has produced a good amount of FD points in that span.

Nazem Kadri @ Buffalo Sabres ($6400 FD/$6800 DK)

Kadri continues to skate on the first line with Hyman and Marner for the Leafs as Matthews is still out with an injury. I expect there to be a few goals from each side tonight and Kadri should be associated with at least one.

Matthew Barzal @ Vancouver Canucks ($6600 FD)

Barzal will be a lower owned center tonight and we both know how much potential there is in Barzal. If him, Eberle, and Beauvillier come out hot, its over for the Canucks. He isn’t one of my favorites tonight by any means but I think he gets some good chances to find the score sheet tonight.

Value Plays:

Derrick Brassard vs Calgary Flames ($5400 FD)

The main reason I like Brassard is because he is on a line with Phil Kessel. I really like Kessel tonight against the Flames and in turn I am a big fan of Brassard who should be assisting Kessel. Brassard has a lot of talent as we saw when he was in Ottawa and I think he will start finding his way with Pittsburgh, especially after last game.

Henrik Sedin vs New York Islanders ($4800 FD)

Sedin has 10.1 FD points in both of his last 2 contests. He has looked very comfortable on line 1 with his brother Daniel, who has been scoring more goals here lately. He is a very cheap 1 line center option tonight but I prefer Horvat on line 2 if I am going to go for someone n the Canucks. However, If you are in a GPP, Sedin might be a sneaky low owned option.

Top Plays:

Alexander Radulov vs Ottawa Senators ($7900 FD/$7000 DK)

Radulov is my favorite winger on this 5 game slate tonight. He is still on the second line with Shore and Janmark but they have looked really good together, especially last game, where Radulov found the back of the net and recorded 5 shots on goal. Great play all the way around.

Phil Kessel vs Calgary Flames ($8200 FD)

Kessel is one from the Penguins that will be lower owned then the rest of them. I honestly could see Kessel being the highest scoring winger on the slate, especially if him and Brassard have a good connection going in the game. I like the Penguins a lot in this matchup, hands down.

Patric Hornqvist vs Calgary Flames ($6000 FD)

Hornqvist is moved up to line 1 with Crosby for this matchup on home ice against the Flames. Him and Malkin have had there moments together but it will be fun to see these two great players work together tonight.

Brock Boeser vs New York Islanders ($6600 FD)

Love Boeser and Horvat tonight against the Islanders, who give up the most goals per game this season. Boeser has looked really good again lately and I expect him to carry that into tonight. Double digit FD points in 5 of his last 6 and a matchup against the Islanders, YES PLEASE!

Jamie Benn vs Ottawa Senators ($7400 FD)

Jamie is coming off a game in which he scored the OT winner to break an 11 game goal drought. He finally looked really good in a game and I think the Benn we all know is back. I look for that first line to be beasts tonight against a struggling Ottawa team.

Good Plays:

Clayton Keller @ Edmonton Oilers ($5100 FD)

I don’t have the Coyotes winning this game but I also don’t expect the Oilers to get a shutout in this game. I wouldn’t be surprised if Keller finds the score sheet on line 1 for the Coyotes tonight on the road at the Oilers.

Sam Reinhart vs Toronto Maple Leafs ($5100 FD)

Buffalo 1 will be a low owned group that I actually think has a pretty good game. Reinhart has over 10 FD points in 5 of his last 6 and a couple games exceeding 17 FD points.

Mitch Marner @ Buffalo Sabres ($6400 FD)

Marner continues to be on the first line with Kadri, I like them tonight but I actually don’t think this game gets too high scoring. Also wouldn’t be surprised if the Sabres come out on top in this matchup.

Leon Draisaitl vs Arizona Coyotes ($7100 FD)

Draisaitl still on the 2nd line with McDavid and obviously that makes him very valuable. Both have been producing extremely well offensively and I wouldn’t expect anything less than them finding the net at least once tonight against the Coyotes.

Value Plays:

Anthony Beauvillier @ Vancouver Canucks ($4600 FD)

Beauvillier seems to be one of these guys that consistently pops up under a value play. The reason that is, he continuously finds ways to get on the score sheet and he has an extreme amount of potential to find it multiple times along with Barzal.

Brett Ritchie vs Ottawa Senators ($3200 FD)

Ritchie is on the first line for the Dallas Stars with Benn and Seguin. It doesn’t get much better than that for Ritchie and I expect him to take full advantage of the opportunity. He is extremely cheap and could get over 3x value tonight against the Senators.

Top Plays:

John Klingberg vs Ottawa Senators ($6400 FD)

Klingberg and the Dallas Stars are so good when they are hot. They have had a rough patch in recent weeks but I think they are getting back to themselves now and that means big things for Klingberg. I expect a great game out of him tonight against the Islanders.

Alexander Edler vs New York Islanders ($5300 FD)

Edler is a very consistent defenseman for the Canucks. He plays great defense, while also jumping up into the play and finding the score sheet, sometimes multiple times. He is a great passer with also a sniper shot. Like him a lot tonight on home ice against the New York Islanders.

Kris Letang vs Calgary Flames ($6200 FD)

Letang hasn’t been playing as well the past week but he is coming off a game where he recorded an assist and 14.4 FD points. I like the Penguins tonight and Letang should do well just by shots on goal and blocked shots tonight.

Good Plays:

Dougie Hamilton @ Pittsburgh Penguins ($5900 FD)

Hamilton is the only Flames player to make my article tonight and hopefully that’s not a bad thing. I am expecting a good night from the Penguins tonight but I do expect Hamilton to have a good night off shots and blocked shots and 1 might even sneak through for a goal because he has been scoring quite a bit lately.

Oscar Klefbom vs Arizona Coyotes ($5200 FD)

Klefbom is on the 2nd defenseman pair tonight against the Islanders and that’s right where I like him. He blocks a lot of shots for the Oilers and is coming off a game where he didn’t find the score sheet but he still recorded 14.4 FD points because of 4 SOG and 5 blocked shots.

Value Plays:

Morgan Rielly @ Buffalo Sabres ($4700 FD)

Rielly is still on the first defenseman pair for the Leafs and he continues to find the score sheet while also playing good defense. He is no where near one of my favorites tonight but he is cheap and makes for a good value play.

Justin Schultz vs Calgary Flames ($4300 FD)

Schultz is another cheap option tonight at defenseman and he is a very good defenseman for the Penguins. He recorded 12.8 FD points in their last game against the Islanders and I like his chances of finding the score sheet tonight against the Flames.

Marc Methot vs Ottawa Senators ($3500 FD)

Methot is the cheapest you can get on FD for defenseman. I prefer playing him only in GPPs and if Lindell is out. As of right now, he is set to be on the first pair with Klingberg. Also not to mention, this is former team and he will be looking to have a really good game against them. Just make sure to keep an eye on Lindell status.

Top Plays:

Ben Bishop vs Ottawa Senators ($8600 FD)

Bishop will be the chalk goalie tonight but I think he is a must play in cash due to him being 9-0-3 in his career against the Ottawa Senators. He has a 2.02 GAA in those 13 games and with how the Senators season has been going, I expect nothing less than a good performance and win from Bishop.

Good Plays:

Frederik Andersen @ Buffalo Sabres ($8700 FD)

I’ll be honest, I really don’t like Andersen much in this game. I am one who believes the Sabres get the win in this one on home ice. I do think its going to be a low scoring game but I don’t know if I like Andersen getting the win tonight.

Value Plays:

Cam Talbot vs Arizona Coyotes ($7700 FD)

Talbot hasn’t had good numbers in recent performances but he really hasn’t been getting a good amount of help from others as he has been facing over 30 shots per game this season. He does have good career numbers against the Coyotes and I do think he will get the win tonight even if he gives up 2 goals.

Tristen Jarry (GPP Only) vs Calgary Flames ($8100 FD)

Jarry is a GPP only play for me tonight against the Flames. He should get the win without a doubt tonight but if he doesn’t show up ready to play, expect him to give up 2 or 3 goals tonight. If he shows up to play, I could see him getting a shutout tonight.

My Favorite GPP Stacks:

DAL 1- Seguin/Benn/Ritchie
PIT 1- Crosby/Hornqvist/Guentzel
PIT 2- Malkin/Rust/Hagelin

Cheaper Stack Options:

DAL 2- Radulov/Janmark/Shore
VAN 2-Horvat/Boeser/Liepsic
