• Point Guard
Chris Paul – 18/8/5 [ $8,300 / $7,900 ] In a contest between the number 1 and 2 seeds, this is a sure fire competitive atmosphere, which has Chis Paul at a vastly underpriced rate and he should see Kyrie Irving’s defense for most of the game. With the Celtics boasting the league’s top defense, possessing a 101.1 team defensive rating, Houston will rely on their deadly backcourt heavily.
Dejounte Murray – 7/2/5 [ $7,500 / $6,300 ] As the Spurs see themselves without both Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge in tonight’s matchup with the Lakers, Dejounte Murray should be a focal point of this offense, along with Kyle Anderson. Recently, Los Angeles has had trouble with point guards, especially over the past 5 games, ranking as the worst, according to DvP metrics.
• Shooting Guard
Donovan Mitchell – 19/3/3 [ $7,800 / $7,700 ] Possibly my favorite play of tonight’s slate, as Donovan Mitchell sees himself in a smash spot against the Sacramento Kings, who own the 29th ranked defense with a 110.1 team defensive rating. The Kings have also allowed opponents to shoot an average of 47.5% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range, which opens up Mitchell.
Dwyane Wade – 11/3/3 [ $4,800 / $5,500 ] During each of his last 2 outings, Dwyane Wade has played 25 minutes, while putting up 39.7 and 32.1 FanDuel point efforts, respectively, as well as scoring 25+ and minimum turnovers. As Detroit comes into town, Wade is on his best and both Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington are out, potentially allowing Wade to see another solid outing.
• Small Forward
LeBron James – 26/8/8 [ $12,200 / $11,500 ] Remaining at a rather high price range, LeBron James is a double edged sword, as he gets a Nuggets team that is playing their 3rd game in 5 days and 2 games in less than 24 hours, which leads to issues. James should be able to continue the success he’s had with his new team, but a blowout could complicate him returning on his value.
Josh Richardson – 13/2/3 [ $6,100 / $5,900 ] Noted above, Tyler Johnson, Wayne Ellington and Bam Adebayo are all out tonight, offering up minutes and usage to Josh Richardson and many other Heat players. Richardson has played well lately, putting up 29.6+ FanDuel points in 3 of his prior 4 matches, while scoring 15+ points and went for 19/1/6 versus Detroit in the last meeting.
• Power Forward
Kyle Kuzma – 15/5 [ $5,500 / $5,400 ] The loss of Brandon Ingram will allow for a lot of minutes and usage for plenty of Lakers, which includes Kyle Kuzma, who could easily see a ton of minutes at small forward, especially with Josh Hart out too. Kuzma has achieved double digit scoring in 8 of his previous 9 matches and put up 29.2 FanDuel points against the Spurs not long ago.
Davis Bertans – 6/2 [ $4,100 / $4,400 ] With LaMarcus Aldridge out, Davis Bertans is in for a definite boost in minutes as well as usage, to which, for the most part, he has taken advantage of this year and could easily do so against the Lakers. While Bertans didn’t perform well versus Los Angeles in the last go around, for just over the 4k mark, he almost has to be considered, tonight.
Andre Drummond – 15/15/1 [ $10,000 / $9,200 ] Although the Pistons are on the second leg of a back to back (is eased as they remain in Florida) and Andre Drummond hasn’t been too spectacular lately, this is still a solid spot for him. In the prior meeting between these teams, Drummond went for 66.5 FanDuel points, backed by a 23/20 effort – Whiteside was inactive for that game.
Julius Randle – 14/7 [ $7,500 / $7,300 ] While it’s not a fantastic matchup on paper, Julius Randle has played extremely well as of late, putting up 39.2+ FanDuel points in 5 of his last 7 outings and LaMarcus Aldridge is out. This should free up Randle quite a bit, making things easier for him in the paint, as he’s in line to see an increased role with Brandon Ingram sidelined in this one.
