NBA Value Plays 2/14: Will Hawks Value Fly?

Good afternoon fellow FanCavers! We have a large slate today so let’s get right into it so we can get you some of these higher priced guys!

Hawks Guys: MAN! We got hit with a bomb this morning. Ilyasova, Schroeder. Bazemore and Cavanaugh are all OUT for tonight’s contest. This match up is not the best, but with the minutes, shots and usage to go around at the price for some of these guys there is a TON to love. I’ll break this one down from back court to front court.

Back Court:

Delaney ($3,500) Dorsey ($3,700) will both see a ton of minutes tonight and Ish Smith is not known for his defensive skills. I can see the Hawks moving one of them (likely to Delaney) to more off the ball duties to play the 2 as well. Bembry ($3,500) is also capable of playing the 2 as well, but he only played 12 minutes in his first game back from injury so I am unsure of how much run he truly will get. Andrew White ($3,500) is another guy who has yet to make his debut, but could very well tonight with the amount of bodies and the big chance of a blowout. All in all, my favorite play from this bunch will be whoever starts out of Dorsey Delaney. This could very well be both of them and if it is I have no problem firing both up in all formats at just a combine price of $7,200.

Front Court:

Prince ($4,000) is the LOCK of the slate in my eyes. His price is down across the industry, he will see as many minutes as he can handle. and his shots and usage should be through the roof. Lock him up in all formats and don’t look back. Ladies and gentlemen… start your engine. It’s time to finally fire up John Collins ($5,100). His upside is truly through the roof. Now… it is my job to warn you this is JOHN COLLINS we are talking about, one of the biggest hackers in the NBA. The foul trouble is DEFINITELY a concern against the likes of Blake Griffin. Have that in mind, he could literally foul out in 12 minutes. Dewayne Dedmon ($5,700) is the most expensive of the crew and the Hawks will need as many minutes as they can get out of him. He’ll be expected to match up against Andre Drummond. His price is a tad high, but he is in play in all formats.

Rank (for cash games):

1. Taurean Prince

2. Starting PG

3. John Collins / Or other PG (If starting)

4. Other PG (if not starting)

5. Dewayne Dedmon

Let’s breathe, that was a lot to take in…

Bogdan Bogdanovic (SG – $5,700) – Bogdanovic has quietly seen 30+ minutes a night since the departure of George Hill. This back court is less crowded and Bogdanovic has been a main beneficiary. I prefer him on DK tonight as he is almost $1,000 cheaper than Fox, but he is also a good play on FD. He should draw the defense of James Harden while partner in crime Fox is locked up with CP3. I’m expecting Bogdanovic to fly under the radar and I like him in all formats to get you right around that 30 FDP mark.

Joe Ingles (SF – $5,900) – Rubio has already been ruled out for tonight and the Jazz draw a dream match up against the Phoenix Suns. I am a SUCKER and fell for this O’ Neale dude the other night and will NOT be going back to the well. The minutes should be there and the match up is as good as it gets, but I’ll take my construction elsewhere. Instead, I’ll look towards Jingle all the way, Mr. YMCA himself, Joe Ingles. This dude just looks like the most average guy, but man can he really ball and he has certainly proved that as of late. He has put up 36.5 FDP in 3 straight games and with Rubio out I see that number staying very steady. He has scored 67 real points in this span and I think he continues to drop buckets tonight. I will be locking him into all formats this evening. A great SF to pair him with is Mario Hezonja ($6,200) who has smashed as of late.

Al-Farouq Aminu (PF – $4,900) – This play really hinges on the status of Jusuf Nurkic, but my guess is that he does not suit up for tonight’s match up against the Warriors. I like Aminu because he is athletic enough to be on the floor when the Warriors go small, or defensive enough to be on the floor when they play more traditionally. In 2 of his last 3 games against GSW he has eclipsed 30 FDP including a 40.9 point outing. He will be forced into more minutes regardless without Nurkic on the floor. Aminu is a great option in all formats and his buddy Ed Davis ($3,800) can also provide some nice salary relief if Nurkic is indeed out.

That’ll do it for today! This is a large slate so tread carefully and plan accordingly! As always I will be in the FanCave slack chat before lock.

Happy Valentines day!
