NHL DFS Breakdown (2/5)

Welcome everyone! Small 4 game slate tonight but I like this one much more than the last 4 game slate we had two nights ago. Lock is at 7:00 PM ET/6:00 PM CT. In this article, I will detail my top plays, good plays, and value plays. I will include both Draftkings and FanDuel pricing for your convenience. Here are the 4 matchups tonight and their start times (Eastern Time):

ANH @ TOR 7:00pm
NSH @ NYI 7:00pm
NYR @ DAL 8:30pm
TB @ EDM 9:00pm

Small slate, so don’t play as high as you normally would! My favorite matchup tonight is NSH@NYI. At the end of the article, I will put down my favorite line stacks for the night. Now let’s move into the plays of the day!

Top Center Plays:

Steven Stamkos @ Edmonton Oilers ($8400 FD/$7200 DK)

Stamkos and the first place Tampa Bay Lightning have been on fire this season and he has recorded 19 goals and 41 assists. Edmonton is 2-1-1 on their 5 game home stand and have been playing better lately but still give up quite a few goals per game. I like stacking Stamkos with Kucherov tonight in your lineups.

Tyler Seguin vs New York Rangers ($8000 FD/$7300 DK)

Seguin is also much better at home as he’s tallied 31 of his 47 points and boasts an elite 4.4 shot per game average while playing at home. Seguin recorded a goal, two assists, and four shots last game and the Rangers are ranked fifth-worst defensively on the road.

Good Center Plays:

Connor McDavid vs Tampa Bay Lightning ($8800 FD/$7100 DK)

McDavid has 17 goals and 43 assists in 52 games this season for the Oilers. He is one of the few bright spots about the Oilers this season who constantly struggle to get anything going for them. McDavid still has a lot of room to improve this season and he could break out anytime. Not an ideal matchup against the first place lightning but not a bad play tonight as they are playing on home ice for the 5th game in a row.

Austin Matthews vs Anaheim Ducks ($7900 FD/$6600 DK)

Matthews and the Leafs have seem to get back into a groove on home ice over their last 5 games. Matthews isn’t one of my top plays tonight because the Ducks have been playing some great hockey but he is still a good play tonight.

Ryan Johansen @ New York Islanders ($5700 FD/$5700 DK)

Johansen has 8 assists over the last 10 games for the Predators and are going up against a team who gives up a ton of goals per game. I like stacking him with Sissons and Arvidsson tonight.

Value Center Plays:

Colton Sissons @ New York Islanders ($3500 FD/$3100 DK)

Sissons is one of my favorite cheap plays tonight against the Islanders. He is on the first line with Johansen and Arvidsson tonight and I wouldn’t be the least surprised if he finds the score sheet tonight at least once.

Top Winger Plays:

Alexander Radulov vs New York Rangers ($6800 FD/$6900 DK)

I personally think Radulov has been one of the hottest players for the Dallas Stars this season. The first line for the Stars, Radulov, Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn combined for three goals and seven points to lead the Stars to a dominant 6-1 victory against the Wild on Saturday. Great play tonight in all formats.

Craig Smith @ New York Islanders ($5100 FD/$5300 DK)

The Islanders have one of the worst defenses in the league and I expect the Predators to pick them apart tonight on the Islanders home ice. I like stacking Smith in lineups with Turris and Fiala.

Good Winger Plays:

Jamie Benn vs New York Rangers ($7700 FD/$7000 DK)

Stars are hot right now and I expect them to continue their hot streak tonight against the Rangers. This 1st line with Benn, Radulov, and Seguin should find the score sheet multiple times tonight just like last game against the Wild.

Mitch Marner vs Anaheim Ducks ($5300 FD/$5400 DK)

Marner has started to play much better hockey for the Leafs and now has five points in his last seven games. He has been playing with Kadri lately as Babcock continues to mix up the lines.

Nikita Kucherov @ Edmonton Oilers ($8500 FD/$7600 DK)

Kucherov is still leading the league in points with 66, third in goals with 27, and he has an above average shot per game average at 3.4. He plays on the deadly #1 line for the Lightning,  so rostering both him in cash games and stacking him with Stamkos in GPP’s feels like a great option today against a brutal Oilers defense.

Value Winger Plays:

Kevin Fiala @ New York Islanders ($4400 FD/$5700 DK)

I always like the opponents who are playing against the leagues worst defense New York Islanders. Fiala scored two goals, one on the power play, on two shots while adding two blocked shots and a plus-1 rating in Saturday’s 5-2 win over the Rangers. Stack with Smith and Turris.

Chris Kunitz @ Edmonton Oilers ($3400 FD/$3800 DK)

Kunitz is a very cheap play tonight against the Edmonton Oilers tonight as he is on the first line with Stamkos and Kucherov. He has 3 goals and 3 assists in his last 10 games which is the most production he has had all season.

Top Defenseman Plays:

PK Subban @ New York Islanders ($5800 FD/$5700 DK)

How about we continue to pick on the Islanders and their league-worst defense by picking Subban, who has 40 points in 50 games this season. Keep in mind he is a defenseman when you see those stats. He has two goals, an assist, 11 shots, and three blocks in his last three games for the Preds.

John Klingberg vs New York Rangers ($6700 FD/$6000 DK)

Klingberg has 10 assists in his last 10 games for the Stars while also adding on 13 blocked shots and 25 shots on goal. He became the first defenseman to reach the 50 point mark this season on Saturday.

Good Defenseman Plays:

Roman Josi @ New York Islanders ($6000 FD/$6200 DK)

Josi is averaging 24 minutes of ice time this season for the Predators. Subban is the number one option at defense for the Predators but Josi is still a consistent fantasy point option, especially against the Islanders tonight.

Victor Hedman @ Edmonton Oilers ($6500 FD/$6300 DK)

Hedman is on the ice for a large portion of the game as he is averaging 25.4 minutes of ice time this season and he recorded 27.1 minutes of ice time. Good play tonight against the Oilers and not a bad idea to stack him with Stamkos and Kucherov.

Value Defenseman Plays:

Stephen Johns vs New York Rangers ($4000 FD/$3300 DK)

Johns is not a great defenseman play by any means but he has 16 blocks and 11 shots in his last five games, which is a big fantasy point stuffer for defenseman on both platfoms. He also likes to shoot the puck anytime he has an open shooting line.

Morgan Rielly vs Anaheim Ducks ($5200 FD/$5200 DK)

Rielly has been a consistent cheap defenseman fantasy player this season as he is 12th in points when it comes to defenseman. He has 1 goal and 5 assists in his last 10 games for the Leafs. Decent play tonight against the Ducks.

Top Goalie Plays:

Ben Bishop vs New York Rangers ($8900 FD/$8300 DK)

Bishop plays exceptionally well on home ice as he is an impressive 16-7-1 to go along with three shutouts, a 2.10 GAA, and a .931 save %. The Rangers have lost five of their last six games, while the Stars are tied for fourth-best in defense with only 2.30 goals allowed per game and have allowed only one goal in each of their last two.

Good Goalie Plays:

Pekka Rinne @ New York Islanders ($8800 FD/$8200 DK)

Rinne is 7-2 in his last 10 starts for the Preds, posting a 1.74 GAA and a .939 save percentage. He will be tested more tonight on the road against the Islanders but I think the Predators still get the win even if he gives up 1 or 2 goals.

Value Goalie Plays:

Frederik Andersen (GPP) vs Anaheim Ducks ($8200 FD/7900 DK)

Andersen has not been a consistent goaltender for the Leafs lately with a 4-3-3 record in his last 10 starts with a 2.48 GAA and a .921 save percentage. I have him down as strictly a GPP only play tonight with his matchup against the Anaheim Ducks. Plus side is that they are playing at home but the Ducks offense has been playing very well as of late.

My Favorite GPP Stacks Tonight:
