NHL DFS Breakdown (2/1)

Hello everyone! Sorry about not having an article last night, I currently have the flu and haven’t had much energy, but we are back tonight with a good looking 12 game slate. Lock is at 7:00 PM ET/6:00 PM CT. In this article, I will detail my top plays, good plays, and value plays. I will include both Draftkings and FanDuel pricing for your convenience. Here are the 12 matchups tonight and their start times (Eastern Time):

FLA @ BUF 7:00pm
PHI @ NJ 7:00pm
MON @ CAR 7:00pm
STL @ BOS 7:00pm
TOR @ NYR 7:00pm
ANH @ OTT 7:00pm
VGK @ WPG 8:00pm
LA @ NSH 8:30pm
COL @ EDM 9:00pm
DAL @ ARI 9:00pm
TB @ CGY 9:00pm
CHI @ VAN 10:00pm

Beautiful slate we have tonight. There will plenty of good options for you to choose from. As many of you know that read my articles, I recommend making multiple lineups with different stacks throughout them and you may get one lineup that scores super high and one that doesn’t do so well. If you don’t have the bankroll to play multiple lineups, I suggest that you get some exposure from as many of the games that you think will be the highest scoring. My favorite matchups tonight are FLA@BUF, MON@CAR, DAL@ARI, and ANH@OTT. At the end of the article, I will put down my favorite line stacks for the night. Now let’s move into the plays of the day!

CENTERS:

Top Center Plays:

Connor McDavid vs Colorado Avalanche ($8800 FD/$7600 DK)

McDavid has 1 goal and 11 assists in his last 10 games for the Oilers. I have a good feeling that the Oilers will out play the Avalanche for most of the night and he should find the score sheet at least once.

Tyler Seguin @ Arizona Coyotes ($7900 FD/$7800 DK)

Seguin is averaging just under 21 min of ice time for the Stars this season. He hasn’t had the best games lately but tonight is a favorable matchup against Raanta and the Coyotes. It’s time for the Stars and Seguin to get back into a winning routine.

Ryan Getzlaf @ Ottawa Senators ($7600 FD/$6700 DK)

Getzlaf is one of my favorite plays tonight against the Senators. I love a stack with him, Rakell, and Silverberg. If you can fit them in, I would highly recommend it. Great matchup for a high scoring affair.

Jack Eichel vs Florida Panthers ($7800 FD/$7100 DK)

Even though the Sabres have been struggling, Eichel has been hot. He has 6 goals and 11 assists in his last 10 games while also adding on 39 shots. Sateri is starting again for the Panthers tonight which makes him even more valuable as I don’t see Sateri having two shutout performances in a row.

Good Center Plays:

Vincent Trocheck vs Buffalo Sabres ($6700 FD/$6900 DK)

Trocheck has 4 goals and 5 assists in his last 10 games while also adding on 49 Shots on goal. The Sabres give up multiple goals per game and Chad Johnson is starting tonight so Trocheck should find the score sheet tonight for the Panthers.

Leon Draisaitl vs Colorado Avalanche ($6400 FD/$5800 DK)

Draisaitl is the 1st line Center for the Oilers and has been playing fairly well lately with 2 goals and 6 assists in his last 10 games. Pretty good matchup tonight against the Avalanche who are without MacKinnon and on the road.

Value Center Plays:

Ryan O’Reilly vs Florida Panthers ($5800 FD/$5300 DK)

Consistent with 9 points in his last 10 games for the Sabres. They don’t have much to be proud of this season but they still find ways to put the puck in the net. Decent matchup tonight against a 27th ranked Panthers Defense.

Yanni Gourde @ Calgary Flames ($4600 FD/$4100 DK)

Gourde has 6 goals in his last 10 games for the Lightning and I would be willing to bed he continues his hot streak with another point tonight against the Flames. Cheap option at Center tonight.

WINGERS

Top Winger Plays:

Rickard Rakell @ Ottawa Senators ($6700 FD/$6600 DK)

I really like the Ducks tonight against the Senators. Rakell has played extremely well this season with 38 points in the first half of the season. Came back from the All Star break and dished out two assists to help the Ducks beat the Bruins on their own ice.

Jakub Silfverberg @ Ottawa Senators ($5400 FD/$5200 DK)

I like a ANH 1 stack with Rakell and Silverberg. These two in my opinion are must plays tonight. Great matchup against the struggling Ottawa Senators.

Nikita Kucherov @ Calgary Flames ($8500 FD/$7700 DK)

A lot of people seem to fade the Lightning players lately because they haven’t been as hot as they were early in the season but I still like Kucherov tonight against the Flames. The Flames have been playing exceptional hockey lately but TB always finds ways to put the puck in the night.

Taylor Hall vs Philadelphia Flyers ($8000 FD/$7300 DK)

Hall returned from Injury and picked up right where he left off scoring a goal. Philly is on the 2nd of a back to back and the Devils should pick them apart tonight going up against a backup goalie.

Good Winger Plays:

Alexander Radulov @ Arizona Coyotes ($6900 FD/$7000 DK)

6 goals and 10 assists for Radulov in his last 10 games even after a bad two games this week. Radulov is one of my favorites tonight but with how inconsistent they’ve been lately, I don’t feel comfortable putting any Stars offensive guys in the Top category.

Brock Boeser vs Chicago Blackhawks ($6400 FD/$6700 DK)

Boeser has played tremendously well for the Canucks and a VAN1 stack might be an option again tonight against the Blackhawks. Looking like Forsberg in net tonight and it just depends on which Chicago team shows up to play on the road.

Jamie Benn @ Arizona Coyotes ($7800 FD/$7500 DK)

The Stars haven’t played well in the last 2 games but Jamie should rebound well tonight in a road matchup against the Coyotes. He has 4 goals and 6 assists in his last 10 despite a bad two games recently.

Sebastian Aho vs Ottawa Senators ($6700 FD/$6100 DK)

Aho has 7 goals and 4 assists in his last 10 games for the Hurricanes and he should find the score sheet tonight again against the Senators. 38 points in 46 games for the Hurricanes this season.

Value Winger Plays:

Travis Konecny @ New Jersey Devils ($4800 FD/$4700 DK)

Konecny is thriving being on the first line with Giroux and Courtier. He enters this matchup with goals in 5 straight games for the Flyers. Safe play tonight against the Devils.

Nick Bjugstad @ Buffalo Sabres ($4100 FD/$4000 DK)

Buffalo has been very bad this season and at a cheap price Bjugstad has some value. Doesn’t produce much but with the amount of goals the Sabres give up, not a bad idea to throw him in your lineup.

DEFENSEMEN

Top Defenseman Plays:

Cam Fowler @ Ottawa Senators ($5300 FD/$5200 DK)

Fowler has been picking it up offensively lately for the Ducks with 4 assists in his last 3 games and 6 in his last 10. Must play defenseman tonight against the Ottawa Senators.

John Klingberg @ Arizona Coyotes ($6800 FD/$6700 DK)

Klingberg has been on a roll, managing a goal and 12 assists in his last 10 games. He is averaging 4.4 DK points in that span as well. I like playing him in a line with Benn and Radulov as well against the Coyotes as they look to get back into the win column.

Good Defenseman Plays:

Oscar Klefbom vs Colorado Avalanche ($4600 FD/$4400 DK)

Klefbom gets most of his fantasy points from blocked shots and shots on goal. He doesn’t score much but gets a lot of points just from those two categories alone. Not my favorite play at defenseman tonight but he isn’t a bad option.

Jeff Petry @ Carolina Hurricanes ($4200 FD/$4600 DK)

Petry has played well for the Canadiens picking up 1 goal and 7 assists in his last 10 games. He is averaging 4.3 DK points over that span which is very good for a cheaper defenseman.

Sami Vatanen vs New Jersey Devils ($5000 FD/$4100 DK)

Vatanen is another cheap option tonight at defenseman. He has 5 assists in his last 10 games and has been playing much better for the Devils lately. Good matchup tonight against the Flyers.

Value Defenseman Plays:

Noah Hanifin vs Montreal Canadiens ($3700 FD/$3700 DK)

Super cheap defenseman at 3700$ on both platforms. He isn’t consistent but as hit price there is always a high upside. I like him tonight against the Canadiens, plus you can pay up for offensive elites.

Darnell Nurse vs Colorado Avalanche ($4700 FD/$4700 DK)

Nurse has 4 goals and 1 assist in his last 10 games for the Oilers. Good matchup tonight against the Avalanche. Most of Nurses value comes from his blocked shots and shots on goal. Great price tonight as well.

GOALIES

Top Goalie Plays:

Pekka Rinne vs Los Angeles Kings ($8600 FD/$7900 DK)

Rinne is projected to be the starting goalie tonight for the Preds. He has been playing exceptional hockey in the last 9 games, posting a 6-3 record over that time with a 2.30 GAA. The Kings have been playing much better lately but I still like the Predators in this matchup by a mile.

Kari Lehtonen @ Arizona Coyotes ($7700 FD/$8400 DK)

Lehtonen gets the start tonight in a road matchup against the Coyotes as Bishop has struggled in his last 2 starts. He has been red hot in his last few road starts, winning 4 out of 5 and only allowing 2 goals or less in 4 of those games with a .930% save percentage. Against a Coyotes 30th ranked offense, Kari is a great play tonight as the Stars look to get back into the win column.

Good Goalie Plays:

Ryan Miller @ Ottawa Senators ($7700 FD/$8100 DK)

Miller managed a 29 save shutout the last time he started against the Senators and will look to continue the Ducks hot streak tonight. The Senators have not played good hockey in the last month and Anaheim should make quick and easy work of them.

Value Goalie Plays:

Al Montoya vs Colorado Avalanche ($7300 FD/7000 DK)

Montoya is 3-1-0 with a 2.80 GAA on the season. He gets the start tonight against the Avalanche who are going to be without Nathan MacKinnon for the next two weeks. Montoya is not one of the best plays of the day by any means because the Avalanche are still a good team but without MacKinnon, the oilers have a better chance of winning this game tonight.

Keith Kincaid (GPP Only)  vs Philadelphia Flyers ($7500 FD/$7600 DK)

Corey Schneider is sidelined with a groin injury so Kincaid gets the start for the Devils tonight. He is 5-3-1 in his last 10 starts for the Devils with a 3.23 GAA in that span. Numbers aren’t great but Philadelphia is on the 2nd of a B2B and Kincaid is a decent value play for GPPs tonight.

My Favorite GPP Stacks Tonight:

ANH 1

Getzlaf-Rakell-Silfverberg

DAL 1

Seguin-Benn-Radulov-Klingberg

FLA 1

Barkov-Bjugstad-Dadonov

CAR 1

Staal-Teravainen-Aho
