This slate tonight is beautiful. It is such a big slate with so many great plays and value plays. This article will be bigger than normal due to the amount of games tonight, so there will plenty of good options for you to choose from. With a slate this size, I like to make multiple lineups with different stacks throughout them and you may get one lineup that scores super high and one that doesn’t do so well. If you don’t have the bankroll to play multiple lineups, I suggest that you get some exposure from as many of the games that you think will be the highest scoring. My favorite matchups tonight are COL@STL, TOR@DAL, CGY@EDM, and NYI@VGK. Most of the games in this 15-game slate tonight have the potential to be a shootout. At the end of the article, I will put down my favorite line stacks for the night. Now let’s move into the plays of the day!
Top Center Plays:
Aleksander Barkov vs Washington Capitals ($7300 FD/$6500 DK)
Barkov has 4 goals, 7 assists, 11 blocked shots, and 50 Shots on goal in his last 10 games. He is on fire and I really like him tonight on home ice against the Caps.
Tyler Seguin vs Toronto Maple Leafs ($7700 FD/$7500 DK)
The Stars have been so hot the past 2 games, outscoring opponents 13-2. I really like the Stars chances to continue outscoring opponents against a Leafs team that is on the second of a B2B.
William Karlsson vs New York Islanders ($7000 FD/$6800 DK)
Karlsson has a four-game point streak entering the game tonight against the Islanders who give up a lot of goals per game. He’s scored in three of those contests and now has 27 goals and 42 points in 47 games on the season. Not to mention he has 7 goals in his last 10 games and he is still underpriced for the amount of production he brings to the table.
Good Center Plays:
Vincent Trocheck vs Washington Capitals ($6700 FD/$6300 DK)
Trocheck has 4 goals and 4 assists in his last 10 games while also adding on 48 Shots on goal. Having Barkov and Trocheck as your number 1 and 2 centers is one of the best duos in the league right now. Love their chances tonight against the Capitals.
Patrice Bergeron @ Ottawa Senators ($8100 FD/$7600 DK)
Brad Marchand has been suspended five games by the NHL, so it looks like Anders Bjork will be the winger with Bergeron. This affects Bergeron because Marchand has been a big part of his success but I still really do like his chances to find the score sheet tonight against the Senators.
Logan Couture vs New York Rangers ($6600 FD/$6100 DK)
Couture has been playing exceptionally well for the Sharks lately and with a home matchup against the Rangers, he should find the score sheet.
Matthew Barzal @ Vegas Golden Knights ($6300 FD/$6500 DK)
Barzal has 3 goals, 11 assists, 9 blocks, and 19 shots on goal in his last 10 games. He has been one of the bright spots for the Islanders lately who haven’t been able to get too many wins strung together because they give up a lot of goals per game. I expect this game to be a shootout between the two unless Fleury shows up strong for the Nights tonight.
Brayden Point @ Philadelphia Flyers ($6200 FD/$6000 DK)
The Lightning haven’t played their best hockey lately but Point has played well for them and been one of the few to find the score sheet multiple times with 3 goals, 4 assists, and 31 Shots on goal in his last 10 games. He is in a great position to put up some good numbers against the Flyers tonight.
Value Center Plays:
Erik Haula vs New York Islanders ($5800 FD/$5900 DK)
Haula has been one of my favorite plays from the Golden Knights other than that 1st line with Karlsson. I like stacking Haula in a lineup with Perron and Neal, who played a heck of game against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Top Winger Plays:
Evgenii Dadonov vs Washington Capitals ($5000 FD/$5100 DK)
Dadonov has been excellent of late, racking up three goals and five points in his last three outings. I like playing him in a lineup tonight with Barkov as your center. I know many will be scared to play them in a matchup against the Capitals and that should help them be lower owned.
James Neal vs New York Islanders ($7400 FD/$6000 DK)
Neal is a great winger play tonight against the struggling New York Islanders. I am a huge fan of the 2nd line with Neal, Perron, and Haula tonight. If you are playing multiple lines tonight, I recommend having that line in one of them.
Alexander Radulov vs Toronto Maple Leafs ($7000 FD/$6800 DK)
Radulov might be my absolute favorite Winger play tonight against the Leafs, who are on their second game of a back to back. He has been on fire lately for the Stars, managing 6 goals, 10 assists, and 25 Shots on goal in his last 10 games. It is almost a guarantee that he finds the score sheet tonight.
Viktor Arvidsson @ New Jersey Devils ($6400 FD/$6200 DK)
It seems to me that everyone will be fading this NSH@NJD game tonight, which means Arvidsson will be very low owned and in a matchup against the Devils backup goalie, who is making his first NHL start, I like his chances of finding the score sheet.
Good Winger Plays:
Jamie Benn vs Toronto Maple Leafs ($7900 FD/$7200 DK)
If you can’t tell by now, I’m big on the Dallas Stars tonight against the Maple Leafs. Benn has 4 goals, 8 assists, 10 blocked shots, and 27 Shots on goal in his last 10 games. The backup Curtis McElhinney gets the start tonight for the Leafs and he hasn’t seen any action since December 20th.
David Pastrnak @ Ottawa Senators ($7400 FD/$6900 DK)
Pasta has been hot for the Bruins, managing 5 goals and 7 assists in his last 10 games. Marchand will be absent from the Bruins for 5 games due to a suspension and I look for Pastrnak to step it up even more tonight against the Senators.
Max Pacioretty vs Carolina Hurricanes ($7200 FD/$6200 DK)
Max Pac didn’t have a good game the other day but he still has 7 goals and 2 assists in his last 10 games and I really like his chances tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes and Cam Ward.
Rick Nash @ San Jose Sharks ($6800 FD/$5800 DK)
Nash has hit his stride recently, scoring six times in his last five outings. He is averaging 4.5 DK points in his last 10 games and seems to really be working well with the top line of the Rangers.
Brock Boeser vs Buffalo Sabres ($6400 FD/$6600 DK)
Boeser had been shut out on the goal sheet 6 games prior to his last game where he scored twice. I expect him to continue to light the lamp in the coming weeks and especially against the Sabres tonight considering he is averaging 4 shots on goal per game.
David Perron vs New York Islanders ($6200 FD/$5200 DK)
Perron has been playing exceptionally well with the second line on Vegas with Neal and Haula. The connection between those three has been amazing and I expect them to all three find the score sheet against the Islanders tonight as I’ve said multiple times.
Value Winger Plays:
Timo Meier vs New York Rangers ($4300 FD/$4500 DK)
Meier is an excellent value play tonight with a home matchup against the Rangers. He finds himself on the first line and that instantly makes him valuable at his cheap price on both platforms.
Anders Bjork @ Ottawa Senators ($3400 FD/$3000 DK)
Bjork is the cheapest you are going to find for a winger tonight and he is extremely valuable. He is going to be on the first line tonight against the Senators with Bergeron and Pastrnak, in the absence of Marchand. If you are looking for a punt play, Bjork is your guy.
Top Defenseman Plays:
Brent Burns vs New York Rangers ($7400 FD/$7100 DK)
Burns is averaging an astonishing 6.1 DK in his last 10 games, managing 1 goal, 12 assists, 17 blocked shots, and 48 shots on goal in that span. I wouldn’t be surprised if he finds the score sheet multiple times tonight against the Rangers.
Alexander Edler vs Buffalo Sabres ($5400 FD/$6100 DK)
Edler has shown his value with both of his assists coming on goals by Brock Boeser against the Kings on Tuesday. He has compiled eight points in his last seven appearances. Great defenseman play tonight against the struggling Buffalo Sabres.
John Klingberg vs Toronto Maple Leafs ($6800 FD/$6400 DK)
Klingberg has been on a roll, managing 2 goals and 14 assists in his last 10 games. He is averaging 5.0 DK points in that span as well. He will be on the score sheet tonight against the Maple Leafs, mark my words!
Good Defenseman Plays:
John Carlson @ Florida Panthers ($5700 FD/$6700 DK)
Carlson is an assist machine for the Capitals with 31 on the season. Him and John Klingberg are the two highest scoring defensemen in the league and it wouldn’t surprise me if he tacks on another assist to his total tonight against the Panthers.
Keith Yandle vs Washington Capitals ($4700 FD/$4200 DK)
Yandle records the highest ice time for the Panthers night in and night out. He consistently provides the numbers that fantasy owners look for when choosing a cheaper defenseman. This is one of my defenseman that I would like to pair with Barkov and Dadonov.
Shea Theodore vs New York Islanders ($4300 FD/$4700 DK)
If you can’t tell, I like the Golden Knights defenseman tonight against the Islanders. Theodore is a guy I like to throw in with Haula, Perron, and Neal.
Value Defenseman Plays:
Colin Miller vs New York Islanders ($4900 FD/$4400 DK)
I like Miller tonight against the Islanders. He has shown some very promising signs lately with 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 10 matchups. Great matchup on home ice against the Islanders tonight.
Vince Dunn vs Colorado Avalanche ($3700 FD/$3400 DK)
Dunn is a very cheap option tonight at defenseman and If you are looking to pay up higher for offensive elites, Dunn wouldn’t be too bad of an option to put in to make that possible.
Jakob Chychrun vs Columbus Blue Jackets ($3700 FD/$4000 DK)
Chychrun has been one of the defenseman that I consistently like to add to my Value Plays list. He has 6 assists in his last 10 games while also adding on 17 blocked shots and 28 Shots on goal. Decent home ice matchup against the Blue Jackets tonight.
Top Goalie Plays:
Pekka Rinne @ New Jersey Devils ($8600 FD/$8000 DK)
Rinne is 6-4 in his last 10 starts and has a 2.64 GAA in that same span. Taylor Hall still isn’t back in the lineup for the Devils and that makes Rinne more valuable tonight. I like his chances for a shut out tonight as well.
Tuukka Rask @ Ottawa Senators ($9400 FD/$8300 DK)
Rask is 9-0-1 in his last 10 starts with a 1.67 GAA average. The Senators have dropped 3 straight games, including a 3-0 loss to the Blues on Tuesday. Great goalie choice if you are ok with spending up for a goalie.
Good Goalie Plays:
Ben Bishop vs Toronto Maple Leafs ($9000 FD/$8100 DK)
Bishop has played exceptionally well lately, as he is 4-1-1 in his previous six outings with a 1.82 GAA. He is facing a tough matchup against the Maple Leafs but with the matchup being at home ice, I really like his chances for a great game.
Value Goalie Plays:
Jacob Markstrom vs Buffalo Sabres ($7400 FD/$7800 DK)
It only took 20 saves for Markstrom to beat the Sabres on Oct. 20. The Sabres remain the worst team in the Eastern Conference and I really like the odds that Markstrom gets a good win tonight and puts up some good fantasy numbers at such a cheap price.
Marc-Andre Fleury (GPP) vs New York Islanders ($8400 FD/$7800 DK)
Fleury will be looking for his fourth straight victory in his matchup with the Islanders. In his 17 appearances this year, Fleury has a 1.75 GAA and .944 save percentage. He is also 7-2-1 in his last 10 games. The reason I have him under value play and gpp play is because the Islanders always have the potential to have an offensive explosion.
Antti Raanta (GPP) vs Columbus Blue Jackets ($7200 FD/$6900 DK)
Raanta is 2-0-2 in his last 4 starts and has only given up 2 goals in each of those games. He is strictly a GPP play as well because it is no guarantee that he has a good game against the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight.
My Favorite GPP Stacks Tonight:
DAL1, VGK2, VGK1, FLA1, and BOS1
