Todays four game NHL slate is one full of chalky forwards and value plays that we could take advantage of with low ownership. It is one of those slates that could really be a slam dunk. I am very excited to share this information with all of you, so lets get right into it.
Auston Matthews – ($7,900 Fanduel, $7,900 DraftKings)
The top player on the slate is Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews in their matchup against the Calgary Flames. Going against a puck possession team is not exactly what we look to aim for, but in this situation, Matthews will be playing his normal 20 minutes and top Power Play minutes against the line of Johnny Gaudreau and the Calgary first line. The best part about the this matchup is Calgary on the road has not been very good lately, as their puck possession has not been very good lately. Plus, Toronto is just a different team at home, so we will be targeting them heavily tonight.
Claude Giroux – ($7,200 Fanduel, $6,300 DraftKings)
The other top matchup on the slate are the Flyers against the Edmonton Oilers, AKA the second worst defensive team in hockey. Not to mention the worst PK in hockey against one of the scariest Power Plays in the league. Giroux, along with Shayne Gostisbehere, are going to have a field day on the Power Play. Im looking forward to watching this tonight.
Patrick Kane – ($8,200 Fanduel, $7,700 DraftKings)
I usually don’t target the Washington Capitals at home, but guess that, tonight is a tad different. Washingtons offense has been lights out the past few games, but they continue to make dumb mistakes with the puck and the Hawks are one of those teams that love to take advantage of that. Patrick Kane is one of those players that uses every available space to his advantage and Washingtons defensive zone coverage has been very poor lately.
GPP Play of the Day: Nick Richie ($3,500 Fanduel, $3,200 DraftKings)
Another team that has not been playing very well is the Ottawa Senators. Their turnovers have continued to rise and the Ducks will take advantage of that. One player I really like tonight is Nick Richie, a big bodied power forward that will matchup against the likes of Mark Stone and Mike Hoffman tonight. His minutes have continued to rise playing on the first line with Corey Perry and Rickard Rakell and I could see him seeing between 17-20 minutes tonight against the Sens for such a cheap price. Will get him under 10% ownership too.
