NBA Plays of the Day – 12/5

  1. Plays are based on stats, opposition, and pricing.
  2. FanDuel and DraftKings prices listed respectively.
  3. Averaged 17-18 Season stats after player’s names.

• Point Guard

Russell Westbrook – 22/9/9 [ $10,700 / $11,000 ] Despite tonight’s rough matchup with the Jazz, who rank 6th in defense with a 101.0 team defense, Russell Westbrook is very difficult to fade. Westbrook’s triple double potential makes him a big game threat and with cheap options available elsewhere on the slate, he is still and play and shouldn’t be overlooked.

Kyle Lowry – 16/7/6 [ $8,500 / $8,700 ] Kyle Lowry is easily in one of the best spots on the slate, as Phoenix plays at the league’s 2nd fastest pace and ranks among the bottom 3 teams in defense. The overall game Lowry provides, along with the Suns’ inability to defend against opposing guards, gives him and edge, even with high blowout potential.

Tomas Satoransky – 5/2/2 [ $5,300 / $4,100 ] Although Tomas Satoransky remains the backup to Tim Frazier, while John Wall is out, he has been playing more minutes over the last 4 contests. The only concern with Satoransky is his matchup, as Portland ranks in the top of 4 defensively, however, this game should be somewhat competitive and his minutes are there.

• Shooting Guard

DeMar DeRozan – 23/4/4 [ $8,700 / $8,500 ] DeMar DeRozan has been great in his last 2 matches, scoring a minimum of 26 points and dishing out 5+ assists, putting up back to back 42.8+ FanDuel point efforts. DeRozan’s matchup, Devin Booker, is an awful defender, as Booker possesses a 110.4 defensive rating, and as a whole, Phoenix isn’t much better.

Bradley Beal – 22/3/4 [ $7,600 / $7,600 ] Bradley Beal has been a bit off recently, only managing to score 30 FanDuel points in 1 of his last 4 games, but tonight’s matchup with Portland, though tough, could be his bounce back. In the last meeting between these teams, Beal posted a 46.7 FanDuel point effort in 35 minutes of action, which is very repeatable, tonight.

Alec Burks – 9/3 [ $4,800 / $4,500 ] With Rodney Hood confirmed out for the 4th consecutive game, Alec Burks should continue to see the 27+ minutes that he has been afforded over the previous 3 outings. Burks has been everything and more fantasy owners could want, scoring 24+ points in that 3 game span and putting up 38.1+ FanDuel points.

• Small Forward

Paul George – 20/3/5 [ $8,600 / $8,400 ] Like his teammate, Russell Westbrook, Paul George sees himself in a difficult situation against Utah, though he’s been phenomenal, sans the last meeting versus San Antonio. The prior meeting between the Thunder and Jazz held a defensive ground, as George had 5 steals, which helped him achieve a 40 FanDuel point game.

Otto Porter Jr. – 15/1/6 [ $7,000 / $6,900 ] The injury to John Wall has placed most of the opponents’ focus on Bradley Beal, which is fantastic for Otto Porter Jr., as he continues to benefit from the increased usage. Though Portland is solid defensively, Porter had a huge game against them in their last meeting, with a stat line of 24/2/10 with a block and 3 steals.

CJ Miles – 10/2 [ $3,800 / $3,800 ] In a game that could easily be a blowout, as the Suns are playing their 3rd game in 4 nights, CJ Miles is a very cheap option, who offers point production and decent minutes. Miles’ cool 39.1% three ball and 15-20 minutes, give him him a solid opportunity to provide value and the pace up situation against Phoenix should only help out.

• Power Forward

Derrick Favors – 13/6 [ $7,000 / $6,600 ] While Rudy Gobert isn’t on the injury report and will probably play tonight, the Jazz will likely ease him back, which opens up a window for Derrick Favors. Though his matchup, Carmelo Anthony, has been sound defensively this season, with a 101.0 defense rating, it is still an exploitable spot to target against OKC.

Serge Ibaka – 11/5/1 [ $5,200 / $5,000 ] Serge Ibaka has been very consistent over his last 6 games, putting up at least 20.6+ FanDuel points and giving nice production on both sides of the court. Phoenix has been decent on the boards this year, but their 109.3 team defense and Ibaka’s inside and outside game should easily be enough for him to hit value, again.

Markieff Morris – 10/4 [ $4,800 / $4,700 ] Markieff Morris hasn’t been very steady this season, however, he does have big game potential and tonight’s matchup will likely make him a lower owned play. Morris is strictly a gpp play, as his inconsistency and low total minutes, along with Portland’s great defense and solid rebounding, make him a risky option.

• Center

Jusuf Nurkic – 15/7/1 [ $7,400 / $7,200 ] Jusuf Nurkic could very well be the chalk of the night at the center position, due to the Wizard’s struggling rebound percentages and weak front court defense. This spot against Washington is a great one for Nurkic and in their last matchup he put up 17/5/3 with 4 assists, in just 33 minutes of play – good for 37 FanDuel points.

Tyson Chandler – 7/9 [ $5,000 / $4,300 ] Over his last 2 matches, Tyson Chandler has played a surprising 28+ minutes per game, 36 minutes last game, and has posted back to back 40+ FanDuel point outings. I like this spot a lot for Chandler, as Jonas Valanciunas is a horrible defender, owning a 112.3 defensive rating, and Toronto is decent at best on the glass.

Jakob Poeltl – 6/4/1 [ $4,200 / $3,400 ] At his very cheap price, especially on DraftKings, Jakob Poeltl provides decent minutes and with Lucas Nogueira likely to sit, he should continue to see nice play time. If he gets the time, as Valanciunas hasn’t seen a ton of minutes this year himself, Poeltl could be a very nice punt, even more so on DraftKings, to help fit studs in.

Extras: Lillard, Booker, Warren, Aminu, Adams.

– Fred VanVleet is another solid punt and gets nice minutes.
