Tonight’s slate is a nice one, though just 6 games, it has some awesome matchups. Positions like power forward and center will be ones to pay up for, as they’re packed with studs who could get you some much needed points. Whereas the guard and wing spots could offer some salary relief, while still affording you good value. Alright, let’s take a look at some of these plays!
- Plays are based on stats, opposition, and pricing.
- FanDuel and DraftKings prices listed respectively.
- Averaged 2017-18 Season stats after player’s name.
- Point Guard
Kyrie Irving – 20/5/4 [ $9,100 / $8,700 ] : The injury to Gordon Hayward was an awful blow that now has the Celtics relying even more on their star point guard, Kyrie Irving. Against a defensively weak Knicks team, Kyrie should have a field day and have no problem dropping a big game, should this stay close.
D’Angelo Russell – 21/7/4 [ $7,800 / $7,800 ] : Jeremy Lin’s season ending injury has opened up more usage and a position switch for new acquisition, D’Angelo Russell. In line for another big role tonight, D-Russ should be able to handle Orlando’s backup guards and breakout.
Jeff Teague – 13/6/3 [ $7,000 / $6,200 ] : In his first 3 games with his new team, Jeff Teague has been a nice complimentary piece to their trio of stars and has even scored in double figures in all games. Playing against his former team, Teague is in a good spot, as the Pacers struggle with point guards.
DJ Augustine – 9/5/3 [ $5,900 / $5,100 ] : In the first meeting with Brooklyn, Elfrid Payton went down with a hamstring injury and will miss this game as well, allowing minutes to DJ Augustine. This matchup should have its share of points and little defense, make Augustine a nice, cheap play.
- Shooting Guard
CJ McCollum – 27/1/5 [ $7,800 / $7,100 ] : After serving his 1 game suspension for a preseason incident, CJ McCollum has made his presence known over the last couple of games. His teammate, Damian Lillard, has a tough matchup with Jrue Holiday which could lead to more usage for McCollum.
Caris LeVert – 12/3/3 [ $5,800 / $5,000 ] : Since Jeremy Lin went down in the first game of the season, Caris LeVert has seen a lot more minutes and a ton more usage. The first meeting between these two teams was a high scoring one, 126-121 Nets, in which LeVert played 27 minutes.
Terry Rozier – 12/3/5 [ $5,500 / $5,500 ] – With Marcus Smart likely to be out due to an ankle injury, Terry Rozier could fill into the staring role and see the bulk of the shooting guard minutes. Over the last two games, Rozier has played a minimum of 26 minutes and it looks as though that time should continue against the New York Knicks.
Tim Hardaway Jr. – 11/1 [ $4,700 / $5,000 ] : Tim Hardaway Jr. has struggled to find a rhythm after an impressive preseason, scoring just 22 points combined throughout the first two games. THJ is looking to get things back on track and with Smart appearing to be out, this could be the game to do it in.
- Small Forward
LeBron James – 25/6/8 [ $10,700 / $10,000 ] : LeBron James started out the season hot, with a near triple double against Boston, but hasn’t looked quite like himself over the last two games. This may very well be the Cavs easiest game so far, possibly leading to a blowout which may stray a lot of ownership away from James, tonight.
Evan Fournier – 19/4/4 [ $7,000 / $6,100 ] : In the first matchup versus the Nets this season, Evan Fournier torched them 22/5/9 and 2 steals across 35 minutes of action. As evidenced by these two teams last meeting, ownership will probably be high on Fournier and other players.
Jaylen Brown – 13/1/6 [ $6,100 / $6,000 ] : Jaylen Brown has been exactly what the Celtics needed following the season ending injury to Gordon Hayward in their first game. This may or may not have any indication on how tonight’s game turns out for Brown, but today is his 21st birthday.
DeMarre Carroll – 14/2/6 [ $5,800 / $5,000 ] : DeMarre Carroll has been an impactful piece to this Brooklyn Nets team, filling up the stat sheet and not turnoving over the ball. Carroll is in a great spot and will garner a lot of attention due to last game and his recent play.
- Power Forward
Anthony Davis – 31/16/1 [ $12,200 / $10,900 ] : Anthony Davis is having an incredible start to the season, in his first 3 games he’s been an animal even so with Boogie on his team, now. The only concern with Davis is that the Blazers are the league’s best rebounding team, which could lower his fantasy totals.
Blake Griffin – 29/10 [ $10,200 / $9,000 ] : The post Chris Paul era doesn’t look too bad for the Clippers at all, who made Blake Griffin their guy moving forward and are playing a different style. Last time Griffin faced the Jazz without Paul, he put up a stat line of 26/10/2, along with 6 assists.
Kristaps Porzingis – 32/8/1 [ $9,300 / $8,500 ] : With Melo gone, Kristaps Porzingis is the man and has been an absolute nightmare for opposing teams so far this year. Porzingis should feast yet again, with a matchup against a poor rebounding Celtics frontcourt.
Domantas Sabonis – 12/3 [ 4,800 / $4,600 ] : Since filling in for Myles Turner, out with a concussion, Domantas Sabonis has picked up the slack and been a nice fit to the starting role. Sabonis is in line for another solid game, as the Timberwolves fail to rebound well and KAT is among the worst center defenders.
DeMarcus Cousins – 28/11/3 [ $11,400 / $10,500 ] : Like his teammate, Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins has had an amazing start to the season, with high scoring double doubles and a bombardment of other stats. Boogie Cousins does have a little bit of a tough matchup, facing off with Portland’s Jusuf Nurkic, but his all around game should tire their frontcourt.
Karl-Anthony Towns – 21/11/1 [ $10,100 / $8,600 ] : Karl-Anthony Towns has yet to have a big game like the countless he had last season, but that was to be expected with the signing of Jimmy Butler. Towns gets a juicy matchup with Domantas Sabonis, whom he should be able to bully a little bit down in the paint and get some big buckets.
Nikola Vucevic – 27/10/1 [ $9,800 / $8,300 ] : Last game versus the Nets, Nikola Vucevic was a mad man on a mission, scoring 41 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and just for good measure, 3 assists. Vucevic absolutely crushed Brooklyn last game, however, with Aaron Gordon coming back tonight, don’t expect as much usage from the big man, tonight.
Al Horford – 13/7/1 [ $7,300 / $6,700 ] : Al Horford has had 3 solid games so far, filling up the entire sheet, but surprisingly failed to record a double double as of yet. Horford will likely face off against Enes Kanter, who is by and far one of the league’s worst defenders over the last few years.
Extras: Lillard, Ross, Ingles, Booker, Thompson.
