NBA Plays of the Day – 10/9

Tonight, we have a solid 8 game slate and things are starting to pickup. At the end of the article, I will be adding something new – possible lineups for both FanDuel and DraftKings. These lineups utilize the plays of the day and are completely optional. Let’s eat!

  1. Plays are based on stats, opposition, and pricing.
  2. FanDuel and DraftKings prices listed respectively.
  • Point Guard(s):

Damian Lillard [ $8,800 / $8,500 ] – Damian Lillard already appears to be in mid season form, which is scary for pretty much everyone else. Yesterday, Lillard put up 35/3/3 in just 26 minutes and doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

Chris Paul [ $8,800 / $7,400 ] – As one of the league’s last traditional point guards, you can expect Chris Paul to have a decently balanced stat sheet. With that being said, the Knicks are a defensively poor team and should give up a ton of points tonight.

Marcus Smart [ $5,300 / $5,100 ] – Kyrie Irving is out tonight, meaning that Marcus Smart will more than likely start. Tonight, he faces the Sixers, again, and had a game of 11/3/4 with 3 steals over 20 minutes in the previous matchup.

  • Shooting Guard(s):

James Harden [ $11,000 / $9,500 ] – Let me take you back to last season when James Harden played the New York Knicks – 53/17/16! Obviously he won’t be playing 42 minutes, but you get the picture that Harden is a definite lock in this one.

C.J. McCollum [ $7,200 / $6,700 ] – Alongside his backcourt buddy up in Rip City, CJ McCollum has elevated his game to another level over the last two seasons. Last game, CJ had 20 points on 6-13 from the field and shot 4-7 from three point land.

Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot [ $3,100 / $4,300 ] – With many of his teammates resting or out with an injury, Luwawu-Cabarrot becomes an intriguing play. However, be careful as he will likely face a minute restriction – my guess is around 15 minutes.

  • Small Forward(s):

Tobias Harris [ $5,600 / $5,600 ] – Tobias Harris has been nothing short of excellent this preseason for the Pistons. Along with his impressive start, some of the other starters are out, giving him more usage and time to take advantage of.

Maurice Harkless [ $4,700 / $4,300 ] – Scoring was no problem for Mauric Harkless last game, as he managed to shoot 6-6 with 16 points in 22 minutes. I don’t know if you guys have ever heard of “riding the hot hand,” but this is a classic case.

Jeremy Lamb [ $3,500 / $5,900 ] – Jeremy Lamb was a beast off the bench over the first couple of preseason games, with a total of 35 points. Now, with Nicolas Batum out for 8-12 weeks, Lamb will join the starters and look to continue his success.

  • Power Forward(s):

Aaron Gordon [ $6,300 / $6,300 ] – In his last matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, Gordon was dominant, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. Though the Mavs won’t be resting again tonight, he is still in a good spot.

Ben Simmons [ $5,600 / $7,100 ] – Last meeting against the C’s, Ben Simmons scored 8 points and added 5 assists, 3 boards and 3 steals. Simmons is a crafty player who can generate offense for his team, even with some of the starters out, he’s a nice play.

Jon Leuer [ $4,300 / $4,800 ] – Andre Drummond is out tonight for the Pistons, giving them the option to go small with Jon Leuer at center. Leuer has shot very well this preseason, 8-14, and can spread the floor unlike Drummond and their other bigs.

  • Center:

Jusuf Nurkic [ $7,500 / $6,300 ] – Since being acquired by Portland, Nurkic has fit in well and been a nice compliment to their guards. In his last win, against the Clippers, the Bosnian Beast had 13/9/1 with 2 steals and an assist.

Guillermo Hernangómez [ $5,500 / $4,900 ] – Will Hernangómez played well against the Nets last game, with 17/12 over 21 minutes. In a matchup versus the Rockets, likely without Porzingis, Hernangómez is once again in play tonight.

Jahlil Okafor [ $4,600 / $4,400 ] – Another game, another group of Sixers out – Joel Embiid, Robert Covington, and JJ Redick to name a few. Against a defensively weak Celtics frontcourt, Okafor at his price(s) is a great deal, freeing up room elsewhere.

Extras: Joseph, Gordon, Jackson, Leaf, Favors.
