After signing a two-year $47-million deal with his hometown Chicago Bulls in 2016, Dwyane Wade and the Bulls have reached an agreement on his buyout. This buyout includes him giving back approximately $8-million of the $23.8-million that he would’ve made for this upcoming season.
Now on waivers; Cleveland, Miami, and San Antonio are considered the front runners to land the 12x All-Star. OKC, with the help of his good friends Carmelo Anthony and Paul George, could potentially get in the mix as well. However, as most have speculated, Cleveland remains the number one option for D-Wade. With LeBron still in Cleveland and the opportunity at yet another Finals appearance almost certain, the Cavs seem to have the edge of signing Wade.
- Fantasy Impact:
Even at the age of 35 years old, Dwyane Wade still envisions himself as a productive starter. Signing with the Cavaliers fully grants him that, as he will start while JR Smith takes over the 6th man role. Not only will Wade start, but he will surely be a focal point of this team as his chemistry with LeBron is already deadly. D-Wade adds a lethal playmaking ability to this Cavs lineup that will surely take pressure off of LBJ, especially throughout the playoffs. Don’t expect Wade’s production to go up too much from last year’s stat line of 18/3/4, but with the weapons around him we’ll see a play smarter than harder game from the vet.
* Dwyane Wade plans to sign a 1 year $2.3M deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers upon clearing waivers on Wednesday.
