NFL Monday – Thursday Slate Breakdown

Gooooooood evening FanCavers. What a fun week 3! It seemed to be low scoring with a lot of chalky busts, I hope you were able to avoid the costly ones. I ended up not having Ajayi, Oakland, Higgins or Doyle in my cash lineup so I was very happy with my results. A few injuries and breakout performances will lead me to my Waiver Wire article tomorrow, so definitely be on the lookout for that! WE HAVE FOOTBALL THIS WEEK, so lets get into it.

I’ll simply breakdown the 2 game slate and try to get you some upside, sleepers and plugs so we can all cash out and build bank roll for what looks to be another great main slate next Sunday. LETS DO IT!

Games:

Monday: Dallas Cowboys @ Arizona Cardinals O/U 46

Thursday: Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers O/U 45.5

Monday Game:

Cowboys Offense: The first thing to note about this game is the extremely underwhelming performance of star running back Ezekiel Elliot last game. This performance alone will certainly deplete his ownership; however, it being a 2 game slate he will still see some heavy numbers. Dez Bryant looks to be shadowed by Patrick Peterson and it this is not a good match up once again for the veteran receiver. The real surprise to this Cowboy’s offense has been Jason Witten who has garnered 22 targets throughout his first 2 contests, but not so fast as the Cardinals cover the tight end position fairly well. Doyle did carve up this defense last week for 8 catches on 79 yards.

Cardinals Offense: John Brown will remain out for the Cardinals while WR J.J. Nelson was limited in practice all week. I think Nelson will get the nod to suit up on Monday and if he does he makes for an excellent play in the M-T slate. J.J. Nelson has seen 13 targets for 10 receptions through two weeks and has caught a TD in each contest. Jaron Brown is a guy that i feel could go overlooked. Last week against the Colts he saw a massive 11 targets. Larry Fitzgerald also makes for a unique tournament play as we know his upside from previous seasons. The real question mark in this offense is the running committee that I recommend you have zero part of. Chris Johnson saw 11 carries last week for 44 yards. Kerwynn Williams saw 9 carries for 22 yards. Neither were very productive and neither looked very good.

All Formats: Ezekiel Elliot, Jason Witten, J.J. Nelson, Cardinals D/ST, Dan Bailey, Phil Dawson

GPP only: Jaron Brown, Larry Fitzgerald, Chris Johnson, Terrance Williams, Cowboys D/ST

Thursday Game:

Packers Offense: First things first, lock in Aaron Rodgers on this slate and move on… in ALL formats. I don’t see a reason to get cute here as Dak’s match up is very hard, Palmer is still overpriced, and Glennon simply has no upside. If you need convincing, Rodgers has not attempted less than 42 times in each of his first 3 starts. His floor is close to the ceiling of the other 3 plays on this slate. Ty Montgomery’s price has finally spiked to an area of concern and he was a limited participant in practice on Monday due to a wrist injury. Despite all of that, I love Montgomery in this spot against a Bears team at home that the Packers should control. Jordy Nelson looked GREAT in week 2 and it was exciting to see no lingering of his injury. He’s a lock and load for this slate if you’re able to find the salary. I do think that Cobb will yet again be out of this contest giving significant bump to Adams, Nelson and even Allison. Allison is perhaps my favorite play on the slate as his price has yet to see an increase due to the short turn around. He saw 8 targets and broke free for a big gain in overtime for the Packers on Sunday.

Chicago Offense: Jordan Howard is BACK. He saw 23 explosive carries for 138 yards against the Steelers and scored 2 touchdowns. He looked incredible. Tarik Cohen also looked fantastic seeing 12 carries for 78 yards. I still think Cohen makes a much better play on Draftkings due to the full point PPR, and do to them having only a $300 price difference on Fanduel I’ll probably put all my eggs in the Jordan Howard basket. Chicago’s pass game still reamins unknown as Glennon was able to just complete 15 passes. Kendall Wright saw a lot of targets on Sunday with 10 and catching 7 of them. I think he makes an interesting play against this Green Bay secondary. I have no interest in any other offensive weapons from this team.

All Formats: Aaron Rodgers, Ty Montgomery, Jordy Nelson, Geronimo Allison, Davante Adams, Jordan Howard, Kendall Wright, Packers D/ST, Mason Crosby

GPP: Martellus Bennett, Zach Miller, Connor Barth, Tarik Cohen, Markus Wheaton

Good luck guys! My main tip for this slate and all small slates is don’t overthink it! Play the obvious plays and move on. Only try to get cute in your tournaments if you are making MULTIPLE lineups. Play a main lineup that seems to be “chalky.” A lot of times lineups you think will be WAYYYY too chalky to play in tournaments end up being lower owned because that is EVERYONE’s mindset.
